How to Prepare a Full Body Tanning Session?

Do you want that lovely glow without sun tanning? You can always get your desired look with a spray tan. A lot of things need to be done before you get a spray tan. Even if you decide to get a spray tan from the best salon without preparing yourself for it, you will not get the best results. Here are steps you can take to prepare for your tan sessions.

Exfoliate your skin

The first thing you need to do is to scrub off the dirt off your skin. When you want to exfoliate your skin, you should use an oil-free scrub so that the tan does not streak off your skin. You can start exfoliating your skin for a week to your full body tanning session.

Moisturize your skin

You can also start moisturizing your skin for a week to your tan session. Every evening, generously apply moisturizer unto your skin and pay close attention to the dry parts of your skin. This includes your elbows, knees, feet, and ankles. Dry and flaky skin will not make a tan look good on your skin.

Remove hair

You can shave or wax the hair off your skin at least a 24 hours before your tan. If you do it right before your tan, you may irritate your skin. This is because shaving can expose some cells under your skin and there will be no time to recover before the tan. When the exposed cells get in contact with the tan, there may be an irritation. Removing your hair at least 24 hours before the tan also allows your pores to close before the tan. If you decide to remove your hair after the tan too, you may end up removing some of the colors off from your skin.

Do not apply lotions on the day of the full body tanning session

Although it is recommended that you moisturize your skin a week to your tan session, you should not do it on the day of your tanning session. Do not apply roll-ons, perfumes, makeups or even lotions. If you apply anything, it may prevent the tan from penetrating into your skin. This will prevent the tan from lasting long.

Wear loose clothes

Tight fitting clothes can absorb the tan leaving your skin patchy. Your clothes will also be stained and you will have lots of laundries to do. Ideally, wear loose and dark colored clothes to your tan session. You should also remember to take off all your jewelry until your tan dries off. You will not want to stain them as well.

Check your diet

What you eat is also important when you are thinking of getting a full body tan. You should eat a lot of green vegetables and fruits such as kale, spinach, and avocados. These greens increase the level of L-lysine you have in your body. A high L-lysine level will keep your skin smooth and hydrated. You should also increase your water intake to keep your skin more hydrated. A well-hydrated skin receives the tan solution better. It also stops your tan from fading off.
